우리에게 '달'은 무한한 상상력을 자극합니다. 또한 '달'은 한 달을 주기로 소멸과 생성을 반복하며 재생(再生)과 부활의 의미로도 통합니다. 그리고 중단없이 영생(永生)하는 상징으로 농경민족인 우리에게 늘 풍요로운 희망의 상징이라 여겨집니다. "더도 말고 덜도 말고, 한가위만 같아라!"라는 비유는 지금의 현대사회에서도 가장 사랑받는 덕담입니다.
호리아트스페이스에선 이러한 '달'의 의미를 특별하게 해석한 전시를 마련합니다. 목조와 옻칠의 숨은 고수로 통하는 한결 작가님의 초대전 《낮에 뜬 달(Moon in the Day)》입니다. 아이프미술경영과 공동 기획으로 진행하는 이번 《낮에 뜬 달》 전시에는 한결 작가님의 시각으로 달의 인상을 재해석한 50여 점 이상의 크고 작은 작품들을 선보입니다.
한결 작가님은 달의 이미지를 항아리 형상이나, 스피커, 식기류, 가구, 생활 속 소품 등 매우 다양한 관점과 소재로 표현했습니다. 마치 '달 하나가 천 개의 강을 비춘다'라는 개념을 담은 '월인천강지곡(月印千江之曲)' 을 작품으로 해석한 듯 합니다. 전시 기간 중 작가의 작품을 실제로 사용해 볼 수 있는 '작가와의 만남' 행사도 몇 차례 진행됩니다. 누구나 '마음의 달'을 품고 있듯, 일상에서 발견할 수 있는 달의 특별한 이미지를 이번 한결 작가님의 《낮에 뜬 달》 전시에서 만나보시길 기대합니다.

It is also seen as a sign of everlasting life through its constant rhythms, providing plentiful hope to rural communities like ours. The metaphor “be like the full moon on Chuseok, neither too much nor too little!” continues to be highly cherished in contemporary society.
HORI ART SPACE is delighted to announce an exhibition aiming to offer a fresh perspective on the significance of the moon. Titled Moon in the Day, this event features the renowned artist Han Gyeol, celebrated for his expertise in traditional woodcraft and lacquerwork. Presented in collaboration with AIF Art Management, the exhibition will display more than 50 pieces, both large and small, reimagining the varied impressions of the moon from the artist's unique viewpoint.
Han Gyeol creatively interprets the moon's imagery across a spectrum of materials and perspectives, encompassing jars, speakers, tableware, furniture, and commonplace objects. Apparently, the various forms of the moon must have been interpreted through the essence captured in the phrase “WolIncheonGangJiGok (月印千江之曲),” meaning “The moon shines a thousand rivers.”
