호리아트스페이스(대표 김나리)에서 2022년을 맞아 역량 있는 젊은 기획자를 선정해 전시프로젝트를 후원하는 기획전을 갖는다. 첫 번째 선정된 기획자는 배민영(39) 독립큐레이터이다. 청담동 호리아트스페이스와 아이프라운지에서 진행되는 이번 전시의 제목은 < 왜 호랑이는 고양이가 되었나 >이다. 원래 두 동물은 같은 ‘고양이과’로 알려졌지만, 실상에선 비슷한 듯 전혀 다른 이미지로 인식되어 있다. 초대된 젊은 작가 8명의 작품으로 재해석된 ‘당연하다고 여겨졌던 일상생활에서의 편견’을 다시 생각해보는 전시가 되리라 기대한다.
이번 < 왜 호랑이는 고양이가 되었나 > 전시는 갤러리의 특성을 충실히 보여주면서 동시에 뮤지엄적인 구성을 보여주는 전시이다. 3층 호리아트스페이스는 곽수연, 박현지, 서은선, 신선미 위주로, 4층 아이프는 김경원, 김여옥, 류갑규, 손창은 위주로 꾸몄다. 총 53점을 통해 의식과 시각의 흐름을 고려해 설치했으며, 일부 작품은 전시 기간 중에 교체해 보다 풍성한 볼거리를 제공할 예정이다.
HORI ART SPACE (CEO Nari Kim) is opening the new year of 2022 with a special exhibition intended to support the talented young exhibition directors and sponsoring their projects. The first selected director is Min-young Bae (39), an independent curator. Presenting at HORI ART SPACE and AIF Lounge located in Cheongdam-dong, the title of this exhibition is . Although both are felines, the two animals are perceived with completely differing impressions. There is a high hope that the reinterpretations by 8 young invited artists on “what had been taken for granted in everyday life” will move the viewers to give those prejudices a thought once again.
The art exhibition ‘Why did a Tiger Become a Cat’ contains both the characteristics of showing at a gallery and museum-like composition. At HORI Artspace located on the 3rd floor of a building, there are works of Su-yeon Kwak, Hyun-ji Park, Eun-sun Seo and Sun-mi Shin, and at AIF - 4th floor of the same building - the works are by Kyung-won Kim, Yeo-ok Kim, Kab-kyu Ryu and Chang-eun Son. The total of 53 pieces are mindfully installed according to the conscious and visual flow, and some works will even be replaced during the exhibition period to provide an even richer spectacle.
