최우영
최우영(Choi WooYoung, b.1993)은 숙명여자대학교 회화과와 동 대학원 조형예술학과에서 석사졸업하고 박사과정을 수료하였다. 작가는 사회적 규범이 흔들리고 모호해지는 순간의 불안한 상태에 주목하며, 손짓·몸짓 등 비언어적 요소와 관계 속 장면들을 수집해 가상의 이야기를 구성한다. 정지된 장면들이 연속되는 씬(scene)드로잉 형식으로 표현하며, 시간의 흐름과 간극 속에서 감정의 변화를 드러낸다. 개인전으로 《밤은 비로소 끝이 났지만, 그림자는 남는다》(아트리움 모리, 성주, 2025), 《창문은 열리고, 밤은 깊었지만》(디 언타이틀드 보이드, 서울, 2024), 《알지 못하는, 알 수 없는》(본화랑, 서울, 2023), 《Still Life》(관훈갤러리, 서울, 2022), 《군상의 조각들》(맨션나인, 서울, 2021)을 개최하였으며, 《DAF 레지던시 교류전 교류/횡단》(대구예술발전소, 대구, 2026), 《Entering》(북구예술창작소 소금나루 작은미술관, 울산, 2026), 《오늘도, 준비중입니다》(한강뮤지엄, 남양주, 2026), 《Draw on Page 9th》(갤러리 기와, 서울, 2025), 《Still In The Room》(아트스페이스 울림, 성주, 2025) 등 다수의 기획전 및 그룹전에 참여하였다. 2025년 유촌창작스튜디오(성주), 2026년 북구예술창작소 소금나루2014(울산) 레지던시에 참여한 바 있다.
Choi WooYoung (b. 1993) received her B.F.A. in painting and M.F.A. in Fine Arts from Sookmyung Women's University, where she also completed doctoral coursework. Her work focuses on states of anxiety that arise when social norms begin to waver and blur, collecting non-verbal gestures — hand movements, bodily expression — and scenes from within relationships to construct imaginary narratives. She renders these as scene drawings, a format in which stilled moments unfold in sequence, revealing shifts in emotion across the flow of time and the gaps between. Solo exhibitions include Night Has Finally Ended, But the Shadow Remains (Atrium Mori, Seongju, 2025), The Window Opens, the Night Deepens (The Untitled Void, Seoul, 2024), The Unknown, the Unknowable (Bon Gallery, Seoul, 2023), Still Life (Kwanhoon Gallery, Seoul, 2022), and Fragments of the Crowd (Mansion Nine, Seoul, 2021). She has participated in group exhibitions including DAF Residency Exchange Exhibition: Exchange/Traverse (Daegu Art Factory, Daegu, 2026), Entering (Bukgu Art Creation Center Sogeumnaru Small Museum, Ulsan, 2026), Open Today, As Always (Hangang Museum, Namyangju, 2026), Draw on Page 9th (Gallery Giwa, Seoul, 2025), and Still in the Room (Art Space Ullim, Seongju, 2025). She participated in residencies at Yuchon Art Studio (Seongju, 2025) and Bukgu Art Creation Center Sogeumnaru (Ulsan, 2026).
