이희은
이희은(b.1998)은 계원예술대학교 순수미술학과 학사를 졸업하였다. 2024년 신진작가 기획전 ‘Wavy Wave’(호리아트스페이스, 아이프라운지)를 비롯하여 ‘Individuality: 개성’(아트스퀘어 갤러리, 서울, 2023), ‘현실에서 이상으로’(아띠나 갤러리, 서울, 2023), ‘다-인’(갤러리 내맘대로, 수원, 2023), ‘방해금지모드’(콜라보하우스 문래, 서울, 2023), ‘When I was young’(숩쏙, 대전, 2022), ‘영등포 네트워크 예술제’ < 더 문래 -기술예술백화점 >(스페이스xx, 서울, 2021) 등 다수의 단체전과 아시아프(ASYAAF, 2023, 서울)에 참가하였다. 작가는 디지털 매체 안의 가상 세계에서 느끼는 시각적 경험과 감각의 혼란을 탐구한다. 특히 게임에 몰입하며 발생하는 강렬한 허구적 경험이 내면에 남기는 ‘소화되지 않은 잔상’에 주목한다. 이것이 만들어내는 감각적 과잉과 혼란을 포착하여 초현실적인 시각 언어로 풀어내고 있다. 가상세계에서의 경험은 반복되는 분해와 재조합을 거쳐 새로이 구성된 화면으로 연출된다. 이와 같은 유희적인 행위를 통해 작가는 가상 세계의 강렬한 시각적 경험과 현실의 일상이 서로 교차하면서 만들어내는 새로운 가능성과 의미를 탐구한다.
Lee Huieun (b. 1998) holds a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from Kaywon University of Art and Design. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including the 2024 emerging artist exhibition Wavy Wave (Hori Art Space, iPLAUNGE), Individuality (Art Square Gallery, Seoul, 2023), From Reality to Ideal (Attina Gallery, Seoul, 2023), Da-in (Gallery Naemam-daero, Suwon, 2023), Do Not Disturb Mode (Collabo House Mullae, Seoul, 2023), When I Was Young (Sup-sok, Daejeon, 2022), and The Mullae — Art & Technology Department Store as part of the Yeongdeungpo Network Arts Festival (Space XX, Seoul, 2021), as well as ASYAAF (2023, Seoul). Lee's practice explores the visual experiences and sensory disorientation encountered within the virtual worlds of digital media. She is particularly drawn to what she calls the "undigested afterimage" — the residue left within the psyche by the intense fictional experiences that arise from deep immersion in games. Capturing the sensory excess and confusion this produces, she translates these states into a surrealist visual language. Experiences from the virtual world pass through cycles of repeated deconstruction and recombination, re-emerging as newly constructed pictorial spaces. Through this playful process, she investigates the new possibilities and meanings generated at the intersection of the intense visual experiences of virtual worlds and the rhythms of everyday reality.
