강민수
강민수(1972-)는 단국대학교 문과대학 도예학과와 동대학원 도예과를 졸업했다. 작가는 전통적인 방식으로 도자기를 소성하는 장작가마를 고수한다. 그의 ‘달항아리’는 국내외에서 ‘현대적 미감으로 되살린 한국적 전통미’를 선보였다는 평가를 받고 있다. 서울과 뉴욕 등 국내외에서 10회의 개인전을 개최했다. ‘Spring Collection’(가나아트, LA, 미국, 2024), ‘Happy HORI Day’(호리아트스페이스&아이프라운지, 서울, 2024), ‘백색의 초월성’(야리라거 갤러리, 쾰른, 독일, 2023), ‘Art Pick 30’(예술의전당 한가람미술관, 서울, 2023), ‘한국생활도자 100인전 13번째 - 백자 너머의 백자’(경기생활도자미술관, 여주, 2023), ‘본색공감:동아시아 전통도예’(경기도자박물관, 경기 광주, 2015), ‘화가와 달항아리’(갤러리 현대, 서울, 2009) 등 다수의 기획전 및 그룹전에 참가했다. 작품은 청와대, UN, 대한항공, 아성다이소 본사, 한국도자재단, 덴프스, TV CHOSUN, NEWSIS, 갤러리 비선재 등 기관 및 개인 컬렉션에 소장되어 있다.
Kang Min soo (b. 1972) graduated from the Department of Ceramic Arts in the College of Liberal Arts at Dankook University and received his graduate degree from the same institution. The artist adheres to the wood-firing kiln, a traditional method of firing ceramics. His dal hang-a-ri (moon jars) have been praised both in Korea and abroad for presenting the beauty of Korean tradition reinterpreted through a contemporary aesthetic sensibility. He has held ten solo exhibitions in Korea and abroad, including Seoul and New York. He has participated in numerous curated exhibitions and group shows, including Spring Collection (Gana Art, Los Angeles, USA, 2024), Happy HORI Day (Hori Art Space & AIPE Lounge, Seoul, 2024), The Transcendence of White (Jahri Lager Gallery, Cologne, Germany, 2023), Art Pick 30 (Seoul Arts Center Hangaram Art Museum, Seoul, 2023), The 13th Korea Living Ceramics Exhibition – Beyond Baekja (Gyeonggi Museum of Living Ceramic Art, Yeoju, 2023), Harmony of True Colors: Traditional East Asian Ceramics (Gyeonggi Ceramic Museum, Gwangju, Gyeonggi, 2015), and Painters and Moon Jars (Gallery Hyundai, Seoul, 2009), among others. His works are held in institutional and private collections including Cheong Wa Dae (the Blue House), the United Nations, Korean Air, Asung Daiso headquarters, the Korea Ceramic Foundation, Danfoss, TV Chosun, Newsis, and Gallery Bisunjae.
