YOU HYEON-KYEONG
유현경
유현경(1985-) 작가는 서울대학교 미술대학과 동대학원에서 서양화를 전공했다. 2009년 서울시립미술관 SeMA 신진작가 지원전시를 시작으로 이번 호리아트스페이스에서의 전시 포함 19회의 개인전과 40회 이상의 기획 단체전에 참여했다. 또한 2005년부터 취리히, 런던, 아르헨티나, 뉴욕, 파주, 설악, 문경 등 20회 이상의 작업실을 오가며 창작에 몰두하였다. 현재는 주로 베를린에 거주하며 어떤 장르에도 귀속되지 않은 독자적인 작품세계를 구축해가고 있다. 유현경 작가는 주로 풍경, 사물, 인물 등 다양한 소재를 구체적이고 사실적인 재현보다는 특정 상황에서 느껴지는 여러 감정과 교감을 캔버스에 담아낸다.
You Hyeon-kyeong (b. 1985) studied Western Painting at the College of Fine Arts at Seoul National University and continued at the same institution for her graduate degree. Beginning with her debut at the Seoul Museum of Art's SeMA Emerging Artist Support Exhibition in 2009, she has since held 19 solo exhibitions — including her current show at Hori Art Space — and participated in more than 40 curated group exhibitions. Since 2005, she has also immersed herself in her practice across more than 20 residencies in Zurich, London, Argentina, New York, Paju, Seorak, Mungyeong, and beyond. She currently lives and works primarily in Berlin, where she continues to develop a singular artistic vision that resists categorization within any single genre. Rather than rendering landscapes, objects, and figures through concrete or literal representation, You Hyeon-kyeong captures on canvas the layered emotions and moments of connection felt within particular situations and encounters.
